Year 9 Subject Selection - Creative Boxes
Course Description Creative Boxes is a unit which aims to further develop a students understanding of the product design process. Students will design and construct a range of timber boxes which build confidence, team work, and the ability to work in an active environment. Timber and the creative use of a range of timbers is the main focus for this unit.
Student experiences in this unit Assessment tasks While a number of boxes are made in this unit, the Utility Box is the major task. For the major task a student will complete the following :- Investigating and Design - Idea sketches, and written support information are used to convey information about the intended timber box. S or N and A-E Production - The construction of a hinged timber box , which is stained, lined with felt, and consist of a timber inlay feature lid. S or N and A-E Analysing and Evaluating - Students will use evaluation criteria to reflect and assess the success of the product and it’s intended use . S or N and A-E
Subject pathway Creative Boxes can help to develop a students interest in further Technology subjects such as the following:- Year 10 Functional Furniture Year 10 Creative Design Year 10 Aeronautical Engineering Year-10 Systems and Robotics
Extra activities/costs? All projects made in a Year-9 Technology Elective subjects are paid for within the department budget. There are no extra costs.
