Presentation transcript:

How do multiple waves interact with one another?

Reflection Light waves scatter or bounce off of an object

Refraction Light waves bend while going through an object

Diffraction involves a change in direction of waves as they pass through an opening or around a barrier in their path

Constructive Interference When two waves meet in such a way that their crests line up together, resulting wave has higher amplitude

Destructive Interference the crest of one wave meets the trough of another, and the result is a lower total amplitude.

Absorption Light waves are absorbed by an object

Pitch A high pitch sound corresponds to a high frequency sound wave and a low pitch sound corresponds to a low frequency sound wave.
