Presentation transcript:

Positives of our reward system Every child earns rewards Variety of rewards to appeal to student interests Promotes a positive image to parents about rules/expectations in school Provides opportunities for lessons on economics and real life application Involves community

Community Involvement YMCA – allows free field trips Free toys or ice cream from McDonalds, Sonic, & Dairy Queen Rotary Club – monetary donations Kid’s Meal from Local Restaurants Kris-Anne These are all things that were donated by our local businesses. These rewards were very popular among our students and went very quickly! Southern States – notepads and pencils Pencils/Rulers from City of Scottsville

How is the preschool reward system different? Preschool teachers use color coded dollars to monitor dollars being given in different locations – hall, lunchroom, restroom. Students may purchase tangible prizes for $5, $10, and $20. Classroom teachers keep prizes in classroom and have store weekly.

Classroom Compliments

Testimonials

“DREAM dollars have given students extra incentive to follow our schools expectations. In the hall and restrooms students are extra quiet because they know at any time they could be given a DREAM dollar. The bank makes them feel like grown-ups because they have to fill out deposit slips and get receipts” AShton Missy Sikes Second Grade

“DREAM BUCKS WORK! Instead of pointing out the bad behaviors, we are focusing on the good! It not only makes the students feel rewarded but it rewards me too! I am taking a positive action to improve our schools behavior.” Mackenzie Melissa Jones, Curriculum Teacher

“I think the DREAM dollars are a wonderful way to reward our students for “doing the right thing” It really seems to be making a difference with our students’ behavior outside of the classroom setting.” Ashton LaVonna Tarry, Principal

I really like the DREAM dollars and DREAM rules because if they follow the rules, even if the teacher isn’t looking, they might get a DREAM dollar. And because they’ve been [such] good, they have rewards and they cost some amount of DREAM dollars and the rewards say, “Good job!” You get rewarded for being good. Veronica 1st Grade

Putting It All Together Rhea We have seen that using a school wide system is overflowing into other areas of the students daily lives. DREAM expectations reaching outside the school doors.
