Water Treatment KQ: How can both freshwater and saltwater be treated before they are used.
June 09 6 (c) Describe the processes which are used to treat water for public water supply (10 Marks) Quality of Written Communication will be assessed in this answer.
Water Treatment The type of water treatment required will depend on the source of water. For instance, aquifers are naturally filtered by the porous rock so they tend to be pure sources of water although they may still need aeration. Saltwater will require the greatest level of treatment if it is to be used for drinking water. Saltwater will require no treatment if it is used for nuclear power station coolant e.g. Sizewell B.
