STARTER 9/8 and 9/11 Nine Weeks Exam October 4 & 5 Complete the Darwin writing you started last class.  Switch with a table mate so that they can type in a different font any feedback on your writing.  Learning Goal: I can analyze adaptations  to determine if they are structural, behavioral or physiological. SPI 0807.5.2 Analyze structural, behavioral, and physiological adaptations to predict which populations are likely to survive in a particular environment. SPI 0807.5.3 Analyze data on levels of variation within a population to make predictions about survival under particular environmental conditions.

DARWIN WRITING Choice two: Choice one: Write a letter as Charles Darwin to his fellow scientists. You must explain and defend your theory of natural selection. Letter must be one page in length and include: what, who, when, where, and why. Make sure to include details of your voyage on the HMS Beagle. Also be sure to fully describe natural selection and the term “survival of the fittest”. This should be persuasive in style and written in first person. Choice two: Create a page in a newspaper in the 1850s. The primary feature of the page should be an article outlining Charles Darwin’s new theory of natural selection. You must overview the idea, give supporting evidence, outline the voyage of the Beagle, and summarize Darwin’s work. You need to also incorporate pictures to compliment your information.

Station Work You will complete all station in numerical order. You will start with the station that correlates with your table number.  You must work as a group. Stations 1-3: QR Codes Station 4: Virtual lab (complete through 2 environments) Station 5: Create a Creature Station 6: last page in packet. Research with your book or computer Station 7: Study Island on adaptations (10 questions and blue ribbon). If you finish before the rest of your teammates work on IXL in the classifications section for review.

Summary  Analyze why the physiological adaptation of phototropism is important to plants.  Thank you and have a great day!
