Question of the Week: What drives people to explore harsh climates and dangerous places?

Skill: Cause and Effect A cause is what makes something happen An effect is what happens as a result of a cause Example: Cause: Parvana’s dad goes to jail. Effect: Parvana has to work to make money for her family. Other examples of cause and effect in The Breadwinner?

Unfamiliar Words Use context clues to figure out unfamiliar words Look for clues to a word’s meaning not only in the sentence in which it appears but also in surrounding sentences Ex: On tough days I can be a little pessimistic.
