High-level Group for the Modernisation of Official Statistics (HLG-MOS)

Statistical organisations should use standardised and industrial processes for the production of statistics in order to be more efficient. The statistical community has come a long way to realised this goal Decrease unnecessary diversity and duplication within the official statistics community Provide a common language for statistical organisations

GAMSO: Generic Activity Model for Statistical Organisation GSBPM: Generic Statistical Business Process Model CSPA: Common Statistical Production Architecture GSIM: Generic Statistical Information Model

Use of ModernStats models and frameworks

Supporting Standards Activities in 2018 Workshop on Integrating Geospatial and Statistical Standards  6 - 8 November Stockholm  Supporting Standards Activities in 2018 GSIM Revision GSBPM Revision Integrated view

GSBPM and GSIM Revisions Why revise change in business landscape (e.g. administrative data, big data) development of ModernStats model (GAMSO, GSIM revision) implementation/user experiences   Principles of Revisions Only make changes where there is a strong business case and when the majority agrees with the change. Improve descriptions and explanations where ever possible. Provide examples of implemented use where possible

GSBPM and GSIM Revisions   Process compilation of feedback (75+ issues submitted) review of feedback and revision by Task Team electronic consultation and revision release of GSBPM v6.0 and GSIM 1.2 (expected: December, 2018)

Integrated view A wide range of models (GAMSO, GSBPM, GSIM, CSPA) are available More difficult for countries to understand and implement each and all of them The level of knowledge and implementation of the models varies in different countries and in the same organisation across different sectors Countries ask for guidance in implementing the models (where to start from, what comes first,…)

HLG-MOS New Vision and Strategy Previous vision (2011) emphasis on the use of standards and industrialised process HLG-MOS reviewed this and proposed new vision Actively engage; Be a trusted data authority; Adopt a service oriented approach; Have an agile adaptive culture New vision and strategy adopted by CES in June 2018

1 2 3 4 Future work? Improving existing materials Using with practical examples and communicating with more clarity 1 Developing targeted materials Different materials for managers, technicians, etc. as well as those outside statistical community 2 Linking GSBPM and GSIM Linking GSIM objects as input/output of GSBPM to make interlinkage clearer 3 Linking models to HLG new vision 4
