The statistics relating to Dementia show what a wide spread and pernicious disease it is. There are currently 800,000 people with dementia in the UK. There are over 17,000 younger people with dementia in the UK. There are over 25,000 people with dementia from black and minority ethnic groups in the UK. There will be over a million people with dementia by 2021.

The statistics relating to Dementia show what a wide spread and pernicious disease it is Two thirds of people with dementia are women. The proportion of people with dementia doubles for every 5 year age group. Two thirds of of people over 95 do not have dementia Two thirds of people with dementia live in the community

Prevention Joint working with NHS to improve sign posting and support for those newly diagnosed Commitment to reducing social isolation of suffers and their carers The development of a dementia strategy in line with the principles of dementia friendly communities Increasing use of Assistive Technology

Early Intervention Dementia Café which will open in December Kingsbury Resource Centre Enhanced Reablement service with additional therapy support Provides a package for up to 6 weeks/72 hours plus potentially 6-12 hours of OT and Physio therapeutic intervention where appropriate

Creative Support Planning Approved Mental Health Practitioners embedded in Older Peoples Team Increasing the number of Admiral Nurses from 2 to 6 with the NHS A more proactive approach by GPs supported by social workers specialising in supporting older people.

Safeguarding A dedicated multi disciplinary safeguarding team A new team specialising in monitoring residential care placements An increased focus on community based support.
