On-Line Profiles The profiles are key documents that chart the activities and progress of a Probationer Teacher throughout the Teacher Induction Scheme (TIS). Local Authority Probation Managers will inform all stakeholders of the dates these profiles are to be submitted to The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).
Supporter/Mentor Login/Register Go to www.gtcs.org.uk Click on “MyGTCS-Login"
Supporter/Mentor Login Details Access is given via a Username and Password (GTCS six digit Registration Number with no slash/dash) For the first log in Username and Password will be the same The password should be changed on the registration page - only accessed the first time of login.
Supporter/Mentor Menu Screen This is the main menu screen where you can access all areas of the profile system and edit the three areas that you have access to.
Supporter/Mentor - IPDAP Initial Professional Development Action Plan (IPDAP) At one of the first supporter meetings you should discuss the content of the Profile for Entry to the Teaching Profession that the probationer received from the TEI.
Supporter/Mentor - IPDAP Using this information the Probationer should identify at least one agreed target and action in each of the three professional areas. This section should be completed by the Probationer and can be edited by you if necessary. To edit any section of the IPDAP choose Edit Initial PDAP from the main menu page.
Supporter/Mentor - IPDAP The Probationer should submit the section for sign off once it has been completed. To sign off a section click on the “sign-off” action that appears in the action column on the main profile page. You will see all outstanding sections that can be signed off or rejected. If you reject a section it becomes available for the Probationer to edit. This is not recorded as a rejection within the profile.
Supporter/Mentor - Timetable The timetable is to be completed by the Probationer and submitted to you for sign off. The Probationer will be unable to submit the timetable if it is outwith the parameters of 0.55 and 0.82. Once you have checked it should reject it or sign it off via the main profile page.
Supporter/Mentor - Timetable The GTCS will be automatically informed if the timetable is 0.81 or more. Please refer to the Chief Executive’s letter via the following link: http://www.gtcs.org.uk/news- events/news/response-snct-agreement- tis.aspx.
Supporter/Mentor Supporter Meetings The Supporter meetings should be written up by the Probationer after each meeting and submitted to you to reject or sign off. Once you have checked each meeting should reject it or sign it off via the main profile page.

Supporter/Mentor Observed Teaching Sessions It is recommended that there be a three- weekly cycle which commences in August. Week one – at the weekly Supporter/Mentor meeting a time and focus should be identified. Week two – the observation should take place By the end of week three feedback should have been given.
Supporter/Mentor Observed Teaching Sessions Continuing with this pattern would ensure five observed teaching sessions between August and December for the completion of the Interim Profile, and a minimum of four between January and June. Further guidance is available on the website www.in2teaching.org.uk.
Supporter/Mentor Observed Teaching Sessions The Observed Teaching Sessions should be written up by the Probationer after each observation and submitted to you to reject or sign off.
Supporter/Mentor CPD There must be a minimum of two entries within each of the three professional areas before the CPD section can be submitted to you at the end of term. Under Local Authority there should be recorded central CPD activities which have been arranged by the Local Authority Probation Manager Under School the Probationer should record the many experiences undertaken both as responsibility as a teacher and as identified as a result of targets from the IPDAP Under Personal should be recorded activities undertaken at a time and a place of the Probationer’s own choosing. This is the same as the nationally agreed CPD for all teachers. Activities undertaken in this section should be designed to meet targets from the IPDAP or areas of particular interest.
Supporter/Mentor - CPD The CPD section is to be completed by the Probationer and submitted to you for sign off. The CPD section cannot be submitted for sign-off until there are at least two entries in each of the three professional areas. Once you have checked it should reject it or sign it off.
Supporter/Mentor - Key Strengths & Areas for Development This section should be completed by the Headteacher and/or Supporter/Mentor. Using the IPDAP as the basis, information from the Supporter Meetings and Observed Teaching Sessions should help track the progress of the probationer throughout the term.
Supporter/Mentor - Key Strengths & Areas for Development At the start of each section you will find a shortened version of the areas in the Standard for Full Registration (SFR). Please refer to the full version for more detail. Evidence of how the Probationer is working towards meeting the SFR should be entered in each of the areas under Key Strengths. Areas for Development should be identified and entered in this section.
Supporter/Mentor - Key Strengths & Areas for Development Examples of comments for the Key Strengths. Has well planned, progressive lessons which incorporate a variety of activities to produce an interesting teaching programme. Demonstrates good ICT skills and a willingness to implement them Consistently refers to the learning intentions to set each lesson in context. Recognises the value of using success criteria in his teaching of skills to develop numeracy. Has continued to develop his knowledge of the curriculum to national standards and refers regularly to arrangement documents. Has shown a willingness to participate in departmental development tasks.
Supporter/Mentor - Key Strengths & Areas for Development Examples of comments for the Areas for Development. Increase experience in the development of course materials by assisting colleagues in the preparation of new S1/2 topics Incorporate strategies from Restorative Practice into classroom environment. Work to improve time management.
Supporter/Mentor PDAP This is the final section that is to be completed on the profile There should be a meeting with the Probationer once the Key Strengths sections have been completed so that this can be used as the basis for the PDAP as the ITE was used in the initial IPDAP
Supporter/Mentor PDAP Using this information the Probationer should identify at least one agreed target and action in each of the three professional areas. The dates identified should be realistic and fall within the dates of the next profile/term. The details from the PDAP on an Interim Profile will be transferred automatically to the IPDAP section of the next profile as a starting point for that term. Once the PDAP section has been fully completed the Probationer should submit it to you to sign off. Once you have checked it should reject it or sign it off.
Supporter/Mentor Recommendation Once all sections are “signed off” the Probationer will be able to submit the completed profile and request that a recommendation on their progress to date be made. You will be able to make a recommendation which will be submitted to the Headteacher who will either accept or reject it. Once agreement on the recommendation has been met an e- mail will be sent to the Probationer advising them of this recommendation.
Supporter/Mentor Recommendation The recommendations available on an Interim Profile are: Satisfactory Cause for Concern Health and/or Competence Unsatisfactory
Supporter/Mentor Recommendation The recommendations available on an Final Profile are: Full Registration Extension Health and/or Competence Cancellation
