Bellwork 8/10/17 Consider the story: Darryl lives on the third floor of his apartment building. His bike is locked up outside on the ground floor. At 3:00 p.m., he leaves to go run errands, but as he is walking down the stairs, he realizes the he forgot his wallet. He goes back up the stairs to get it and then leaves again. As he tries to unlock his bike, he realizes that he forgot his keys. One last time, he goes back up the stairs to get his keys. He then unlocks his bike, and he is on his way at 3:10 p.m. Sketch a graph that depicts Darryl's change in elevation over time. Please have your homework out on the desk, I will be going around and checking it Please sketch the graph on the given index card. You will be turning this in.

Homework I will be checking it today while you are
doing your placement exam. Please have
it out so I can see it. Placement Exam Need a pencil and scrap paper Potential schedule change with this exam

Lesson 3: Graphs of Exponential Functions Students choose and interpret the scale on a graph to appropriately represent an
exponential function. Students plot points representing the number of bacteria over time, given that bacteria grow by a constant factor over evenly spaced time intervals. Exploratory Challenge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEwzDydciWc

Graph the number of bacteria versus time in seconds

Graph the number of bacteria versus time in minutes

Graph the number of bacteria versus time in hours (for the first five hours).

Closure: Share the differences between linear,
quadratic, and exponential graphs

Exit Ticket Assume that a bacteria population doubles every hour. Which of the following three tables of data, with x representing time in hours and y the count of bacteria, could represent the bacteria population with respect to time? For the chosen table of data, plot the graph of that data. Label the axes
appropriately with units.
