“Currently, it seems that rescuers have reached most areas, though hope of finding more survivors is fading. The survivors have settled along the city's main roads in over 250 makeshift camps, without any shelter. Port au Prince is seriously damaged, but beyond the city, the whole region has been affected by the earthquake. The arrival of help, food, shelter and drinking water is slow everywhere.”

The goal of Translators without Borders is to create a worldwide, web-based platform where volunteer translators interact directly with the humanitarian organizations who need their help. This self-managing community will connect through a simple technology platform that will allow them to work in a crowd-sourced environment, no matter where in the world they live, or what language they speak. The Translators without Borders community will improve the impact of NGOs, especially in the fields of health, technology and education
