Common Assessment Reteach   Turn and talk to your partners: What is this problem about? What information do we know and what do we need to know?

Common Assessment Reteach

This is 3 inches What am I trying to divide?

To use my model, I need to divide them into 16ths first. I am going to have 36 16ths to work with, that I will put them into groups of 3 What am I trying to divide? I am trying to divide the height of the stack by the thickness of what sheet of cardboard.

I am going to have 36 16ths to work with, that I will put them into groups of 3. When I circle every 3, I will end up with 12 groups.   Using my model, I needed to find an equivalent denominator. I can do that with my division expression, and use unit form to see 36 ÷ 3 = 12, which is the answer I found.

Today’s Objective I will be able to use ratios and rates So I can convert measurement units in real life examples. I will show I know it when I can complete at least 4 out of 6 centers correctly with my group with at least 80% accuracy. 6.RP.A.2

Language Objective By the end of the lesson, I will be able to use the language domains of listening, speaking, reading and writing to orally communicate and listen to my partners about ratios and rates to change measurement units in real-world problems and record the correct answers to the stations. Academic math Language Vocabulary: ratio, ratio table, graph, rate, unit rate
