What is an allusion? Reference to a statement, person, place, event, or thing that is known from literature, history, religion, myth, politics, sports, science, pop culture, or the arts. The three most popularly alluded to works are: The Bible Shakespeare Greek/Roman Mythology

“Tutor in Shinning Armor” On your own paper answer the following questions: What are Chloe and Ava practicing? Why does James offer to help Ava with Algebra? Does Ava really need tutoring? How do you know? From James’s point of view, what is happening between the two girls? What do you know about Ava that helps you understand why James’s offer to tutor her creates humor?

“Tutor in Shinning Armor” On your own paper answer the following questions: Explain how what the characters know differs from what the reader knows. Use two details from the story in your answer. Ava says, “That’s sweet, James. We were just doing a little acting, but thanks for the offer. Want to listen in?” What does this dialogue tell you about her character? James tries to come to Ava’s rescue, like a ‘tutor in shinning armor.” What does this phrase allude to? What does it tell you about James?
