Connectivity & Security Filtering software is active both on and off campus At home Parent Monitoring is always best safe guard Connectivity managed by OCS IT Department The student agrees to and accepts that his or her access and/or connection to Onslow County Schools’ networks may be monitored to record dates, times, duration of access, etc., in order to identify unusual usage patterns or other suspicious activity. The student consents that there is no right to privacy related to use of organizational networks, resources, or data. School Staff will also monitor use to ensure compliance and have the rights to prohibit use

Security & Transportation All users are responsible for security of their devices Students are expected to secure devices when not in use. Laptops should be powered off and in protective cases when taken to and from school. Avoid leaving laptops in vehicles, especially when weather is extremely cold or hot. Bring fully charged each day and also bring charger to school daily.

Student Responsibilities All communication is appropriate Can only use device with specific teacher’s permission for educational use, NO personal use allowed. Comply with all Board of Education policies and guidelines, including copyright and internet safety use. Only Student assigned to device is authorized. No right to privacy when on the device. Any illegal activity, commercial or for-profit purposes is prohibited.

Student Responsibilities contd… All audio, pictures, video taken on device must have consent of the individuals. Students may not record, photo, or video an active classroom without consent of teacher. Students may not take pictures or video of tests or assignments without consent of teacher. Harassment of any kind is prohibited and illegal. OCS has all rights of ownership of products by a student in which the use of district supplies and/or assets were used.

Student Responsibilities contd…. No installation of, connection to, or downloads of non-instructional games, video and/or audio or other files that are not instructionally –centered is allowed.

Student Agreement Read and Understand Applicable Guidelines and Policies Use device for purpose it was intended in educational environment Take necessary precautions against loss, theft, or damage. Discontinue use of device if directed to by school authorities. Get permission from each teacher for rooms in which intends to use device.

Policy Non-Compliance Failure to comply with the District Issued Device Responsible Use Guidelines may, at the full discretion of the organization, result in the suspension of any or all technology use and connectivity privileges, disciplinary action, as well as possible criminal charges.
