Who leads the way on health in your school? We have noticed that different groups plan how to improve health in schools… …school councils? …senior management teams? …teacher-led teams? governors? parents? We want to know about what kinds of groups plan health programmes and initiatives in your school… …and we want to hear from you about how well they do the job

Sometimes school health planning groups are effective… Positive Action: school climate committee and community committee with diverse stakeholders support implementation of this wraparound, multiyear, schoolwide intervention An RCT of this programme in Hawai’i showed broad and convincing effectiveness on health and education outcomes Raising Healthy Children: a teacher-led policy committee informed development of responses to bullying Two RCTs suggest some evidence of effectiveness

…sometimes not so much Gatehouse: a school health committee was central to a multilevel school intervention in secondary schools This intervention did not produce convincing effects! …so there are some differences we need to explain!

Over to you (and your partners)… What kinds of groups plan health programmes and initiatives in your school? Why might they be effective at creating change? Why might they not be effective at creating change? What do you, as educators, want to know about how these groups could work better?
