Materials Cardboard Aluminum foil Glue or wheat paste Joining material: metal brad, string, twine, twist ties Jar or pot Block of wood Plastic bag
Step 1 Cut piece of cardboard approximately 2’ x 4’ Cut a half-circle in the center of the long side wide enough for a pot
Step 2 Bend into a half circle
Step 3 Glue foil to inside of cardboard, shiny side up
Step 4 Join the 2 sides together using any available fastener. -Ex: metal brads, wire, paper clips, or thread Glue foil across the bottom of the funnel, also shiny side up
The Cooking Bag
Steps 5-8 Paint a cooking jar black or use black pot Place a wooden block or a wire platform in bottom of the cooking bag (See guidelines on plastics in Introductory Slide Presentation) Place the jar on top of the block or platform Place the bag and contents inside the funnel cooker
Final Product
Finally… Place Funnel Cooker in box For greater stability, dig a hole and place funnel cooker inside Point towards the sun and cook away
An Easy Alternative Instead of gluing and bending all of that cardboard… Simply get a reflector made for a car windshield and put the pot and bag inside
Another Alternative Dig a hole, line it with reflective material and place the pot and bag in the center For a more permanent cooker, line hole with cement and paint with reflective paint Remember to make the opening 400 square inches or 23 inch diameter
