LEGAL BASIS Regulation (EC) n°223/2009 of the European Parliament and Council of 11 March 2009 on European Statistics is asking countries to report on quality criteria "To guarantee the quality of results, European statistics shall be developed, produced and disseminated on the basis of uniform standards and of harmonised methods. In this respect, the following quality criteria shall apply…." Domain specific Commission regulations require detailed quality reporting.

The ESS Standard for Quality Reports Structure (ESQRS)

The National Reference Metadata Editor (NRME)

The business process for using the NRME for national metadata Mapping of the existing national reference metadata files to the ESMS and/or ESQRS formats; Conversion of existing national reference metadata files into standard ESMS structure; Insertion of these files into the National Reference Metadata Editor tool (NRME); The NSI’s are asked to complete, enhance their converted files, directly in the NRME; The responsible Domain Managers in Eurostat are asked to validate these ESMS / ESQRS files; The national metadata are finally disseminated on Eurostat Web site (if decided so); Time line is approximately 6 months.

The situation of LCI Quality Reports Preparation of mapping: June 2013 Reception by Unit B/5 of 2012 metadata collection: September 2013 Conversion of these QRs in NRME by Unit B/5: September 2013 Today: 29 national files (28 MS + NO) imported in NRME Access granted to NatUsers by Unit B/5: end 2013 Next metadata report in NRME: August 2014.
