Presentation transcript:

Part I: Using online news resources, find two articles discussing recent (within the last five years) incidents where groups of individuals have protested against a governing body. Only one of the two articles may originate from the United States. For each article, you will A.) provide a brief summary of the events leading up to and/or causing the protest, B.) discuss the "turning point" that you believe led the individuals to take action against their controlling power, C.) outline the action that they took against the government, and D.) discuss any action taken by the government / controlling power in response to the individuals' protests. Part II: Using any reputable online resources, locate and outline real-life examples of each of the following types of governments currently in operation in the world: A.) Democracy B.) Monarchy C.) Totalitarian Dictatorship/Authoritarian For each, discuss the organizational structure of the government, who currently makes up the leadership of the nation, two policies recently passed in that nation, and two problems currently affecting that nation. Additionally, you should briefly address how its economy is structured/controlled. If religion plays a role in the government you’re outlining, be sure to include it’s impact! You may complete Part II in a neatly organized chart. Cite all sources of information! Part III: Read the article linked below, and draft a ¼ to ½ page personal response to the following question -- "How has the introduction of digital media impacted citizens' relationship with their governing bodies?” http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2013/07/if-your-government-fails-can-you-create-a-new-one-with-your-phone/278216/
