World War I European War Involves the United States Words to know:

1) Propaganda- -One sided information designed to make the enemy look bad.

2) Allied Powers (Allies)- -Warring nations led by Great Britain, France and The United States. Map of the World with the Participants in World War I. The Allies are depicted in green, the Central Powers in yellow, and neutral countries in gray.

3) Central Powers- -Warring nations led by Germany and Austria-Hungary. Kaiser Wilhelm II, Germany, Enver Pasha Ottoman Empire (Turkey), Emperor Franz Joseph, Austro Hungarian Empire (Austria/Hungary).

5) Sabotage- 4) Zimmerman Note- -Note urging Mexico to declare war on the U.S. if the U.S. declared war on Germany. -Planned destruction of someone else’s property. 5) Sabotage-

6) Lusitania- -British passenger-liner sunk by a German submarine, killing over 1,200 people including Americans. -Led the U.S. to declare war on Germany
