STANDARDS FOR LEARNING OBJECTIVES The following guidelines have been established to support course directors and presenters when writing learning objectives for SMFM events and meetings. GUIDELINES Participant learning objectives should be written with the viewpoint of the participant – what the participant will get out of the course, and not what the facilitator will provide. This text should be placed prior to the bulleted list of learning objectives: “Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:” BLOOM’S TAXONOMY Participant learning objectives should begin with action verbs: List, Name, Recall, Tell Identify, Describe, Discuss, Compare Apply, Complete, Demonstrate, Interpret Analyze, Categorize, Diagram, Question Arrange, Compose, Prepare, Combine Assess, Conclude, Measure, Support
