pH Lab

Question Hypothesis Which household solutions are acidic and basic? If I test the pH of different household solutions then (list all solutions you think will be acids) will be acidic, (list all solutions you think will be basic) will be basic, and (list any you think will be neutral).

Procedures Add 5 drops of lemon juice to the first well. Dip one pH test strip into the solution. Compare the color the strip changed to the pH scale. Record the pH. Repeat for each of the 8 additional solutions.

Data Table Solution pH Acid/Base? Lemon juice Vinegar Mouthwash Window Cleaner Soda Unknown #1 Unknown #2 Unknown #3 Unknown #4

Post Lab Questions Conclusion Is your hypothesis valid or invalid and why? What characteristics do you notice about acids? Bases? What were the unknown solutions? Were they acids or bases? Conclusion Write a 5 sentence conclusion on what you learned about pH and what you found interesting in the lab.
