Emotional Intelligence What are the five elements of (EI) Self-awareness: A person's ability to be in tune with how he or she is feeling. In general, the more self-aware a person is, the better that person is at guiding his or her life and behavior. Managing emotions: A person's ability to manage his or her anxieties, fears, and anger so that these emotions do not interfere with the person's ability to get things done. Motivating oneself: A person's ability to remain optimistic and to be able to strive to achieve and be successful. Empathy: A person's ability to understand how others are feeling in a given situation.
