What’s the big idea? Grade 6: Significant events in different communities have contributed to the development of the identity of that community and of Canada. Grade 7: Understanding the experiences of and challenges facing people in the past helps put our experiences and challenges into context.

Identity Identity: who or what a person or thing is; something that distinguishes a person or thing from others; individuality, personality Collective identity: shared definition of a group that comes from its members’ common interests, experiences, and solidarities
