Science and Art at Their Best Your brain has 100 billion nerve cells and they each connect to thousands of others. They process data from your senses so you Can detect the world around you. Sometimes, making sense of the data is difficult. The brain therefore makes shortcuts in Interpreting that data and this makes it easy to create illusions. Archimboldo painted portraits in the 1500s. He relied on fooling our senses. Look at the IMAGE on the NEXT SLIDE and then the same one upside down and explain what happens – is it not great?

Vegetables in a Bowl the Correct Way Up I have done the rotation for you on the next slide And if You Turn it Upside Down .. Be Amazed!
