What is meant by Chemical Equilibrium?
the reaction has to take place in a closed system i.e. a rigid closed

REVISION EQUILIBRIUM

OPEN SYSTEM CLOSED SYSTEM REVERSIBLE REACTION CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM continuously interacts with its environment, CLOSED SYSTEM is isolated from its surroundings. REVERSIBLE REACTION A reaction is reversible when products can be converted back to reactants. CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM It is a dynamic equilibrium when the rate of the forward reaction equals the rate of the reverse reaction

ONLY temperature can change this value!!!! EQUILIBRIUM CONSTANT No unit ONLY temperature can change this value!!!!

EQUILIBRIUM CONSTANT – determine Kc

EQUILIBRIUM CONSTANT – determine Kc

EQUILIBRIUM CONSTANT – Kc given

EQUILIBRIUM IS DISTURBED BY… Concentration Temperature Pressure Volume

LE CHATELIER When the equilibrium in a closed system is disturbed, the system will re-instate a new equilibrium by favouring the reaction that will oppose the disturbance
