Simple Sentence and Compound Sentences

Simple sentences A simple sentence consists of one sentence.

Examples: 1) The dog barks. 2) The kettle boils. 3) Birds live in nests. 4) The boys are singing. 5) The little girl was carrying a basket on her head.

Compound Sentences A compound sentence contains two related sentences. The boys sang and the girls danced.

Compound Sentences We make compound sentences by joining independent clauses with the help of coordinating conjunctions: And / Or / But Note: Put a comma before the conjunction.

Examples: Men may come, and men may go,  You may watch TV, or you can go out to play. He took the test several times, but he couldn’t pass.
