Dual Credit is an approved college course that can also count as a high school course COST EFFECTIVE : *****An Average tuition for 30 hours a year at a public 4 year institution is about $18,000 X 2years = $36,000. *****Cost for Dual credit for 66 hours to student is $2200. *****A $33,800 savings. This is bigger than any scholarship we could offer our students and it is available to ALL EHS students!!!! RIGOROUS ***** Our students learn about blackboard, syllabus, buying textbooks, college add/drops, self advocating to professors but also have the support of EHS staff ***** The classes are more rigorous than regular high school classes

They are taught by Master Degreed college faculty– either Ranger College or Cisco College They can be taught by an EHS teacher that meets that criteria

Where are they taught? Dual credit classes are taught mostly on the EHS campus 1.They might be taught by an EHS teacher face- to-face in a classroom 2.They might be taught by college faculty online in our online lab 3.They might be taught by ITV at EHS by college faculty 4.They might be taught by college faculty face-to- face at EHS during school or after school 5.They might be taught face-to-face on the college campus during the summer or after school

Who can take Dual Credit classes? The requirements are: 1.Have completed their Sophomore year 2.Met College Readiness Standard From PSAT: 50 in Critical Reading & Math, Comp 107 From SAT: 500 Crit Rdg & 500 Math, Comp 1070 Otherwise, they must take and pass the Accuplacer (see handout) 3.Must not have failed or dropped any dual credit classes in the previous semester 4.Must have all college accounts up to date and paid 5.Must not appear on the Attendance Makeup List at anytime in the previous semester

Grading policies The final grade given for any dual credit course will be the letter grade recorded on the college transcript. The courses will be calculated into the High School GPA as follows: Nonweighted (College grade)Weighted (EHS grade) A=95A=105 B=85B=95 C=75C=85 D=65-70D=70 F=below 65F=50 Every 3 weeks, a FYI grade will be posted on the students report card. It is just to let the parent know what the grade is at that moment in the class. Once the course is completed, all six weeks grades will be replaced with the final grade from the college transcript. Dual credit courses taken in the Spring of the senior year will not be calculated into the final high school GPA.

1.If a class is dropped or failed, $100 must be paid back to EISD for each class. 2.If a class is dropped, the student will be placed in an available non-dual credit class but they WILL NOT receive credit for either class. 3.If a student fails or drops a dual credit course, they will not be able to sign up for a dual credit course for the next semester. 4.These are COLLEGE courses and have a stricter standard. Students are responsible to correspond with professors about questions, problems, etc. EHS has no authority over the professors and cannot change college grades, but we are here to help facilitate. 5.If you are pursuing an Associates Degree, it is the students and parents responsibility to go to the college and meet with a college counselor about college graduation and to certify that the student has all credits needed to graduate. 6.If a student is taking an online course and is having technical difficulties, it is the students responsibility to contact the professor and college technical departments immediately.
