Extended School Year (ESY) 2018 - 2019

Purpose of ESY… To maintain students' Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals from the previous school year. Data collected based on the students' goals and objectives, pertaining to regression & recoupment and predictive factors determine whether or not a student meets the criteria for ESY services.

Why do students need esy? The IEP team has determined a need for additional class time in order to slow regression/loss of skills and to reduce the amount of time it takes for the student to recoup/regain the skills.

qualifying students for esy Case Manager needs to submit the following: Student ESY Registration Must submit one or both: Regression/Recoupment Data Collection Form Predictive Factors Transportation Form 1066 Specific Plans Behavior Communication Literacy OT/PT Speech Language It is an IEP Team decision

Regression/Recoupment Documentation for qualifying students for esy The IEP team must come to the decision about ESY using one or both of the following: Regression/Recoupment Predictive Factors

Regression/recoupment data collection Teachers must track skill levels prior to and after school breaks. We are looking for any regression to be regained in less than twice the time the student was off. Example: If a student is on a 2 weeks school break they should regain the skills within 4 weeks.

PREDICTIVE FACTORS If you are using Predictive Factors as part of the decision making process to qualify a student for ESY, you will need to be prepared to answer and provide evidence to support your decision. The IEP Team must answer all 11 questions in the predictive factor section of the IEP.
