Article I – The Congress Congress is Article I because they felt it was the most important. Set up a republican form of government. -Two equal houses: One chosen by the people (House) One chosen by the states (Senate) (until the 17th Amendment in 1913)

House and Senate House of Representatives: -438 apportioned by population -2 year term -closer to the people -Writes revenue (tax) laws -Elects the president in a tie -Decides if there is evidence for impeachment Senate: -2 for each state -6 year term -closer to the President -Confirms Presidential appointees -Conducts a trial for impeachment
