Director of Dual Enrollment Student Services – High School Programs

Need Large number of students are Dually Enrolled (DE). No centralized structure to manage DE students. No training for faculty and staff for managing young students. DE Students are not engaged in support programs. No formal structure for communicating between High Schools and College faculty, staff, and families. Numbers will continue to increase as state wide and local initiatives come to fruition.

Trends AB 288 (2015) College and Career Access Pathways California Community College Linked Learning Initiatives (2011) Dual Enrollment/Early College efforts in San Mateo County (2008) SMCCCD Strategic Plan Goals 1 & 2: Use emerging practices to accelerate student progression through basic skills and ESL sequences into college level work. Support seamless transitions to college for secondary school students. Increase middle college and early college opportunities. Make concurrent and dual enrollment processes more efficient and accessible for secondary schools and their students.

Pipeline Liaison between the college campus and high schools. Centralized office to provide support and advocacy for DE students, HS instructors, College professors, and administration. Address unique student population with specific support services needed. Identify disconnect between basic skills and academic behaviors between secondary and postsecondary education.
