My name is chris seng and I am part of the Divison of Enrollment and Access, Dept head of the Office of the Registrar and also serve as the University Registrar. I have been part of the SIS team since the inception in 2004. We’ve had a long partnership. 1/3/2019 UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation

UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation RAMweb Old July 25th we left this behind…. 1/3/2019 UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation

UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation RAMweb New And moved to this new version of RAMweb. A very big accomplishment in the last few months. This was a huge milestone and improvement. Our team of developers, Terri, Dereck, Mahdi, Jimmie undertook project in December. Lots of people involved to make this happen. 1/3/2019 UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation

UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation Why change? High demand times were problematic Design 10 yrs old, continually adding links Mobile friendly – NO! Code was challenging to maintain Recurring security checks difficult pass and intensive to remediate Landing page was a link farm Was not Handling load/peak volume times well Was dated in design, not able to grow and be Tailored to specific students Was not Mobile first Was not easy to maintain when changes were requested Was not Passing security checks easily Was a link farm, look and feel very dated, 1/3/2019 UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation

UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation RAMweb Used by applicants and current students CSU developed self service applications with a few vendor apps embedded such as registration and class schedule Originally develop in 2000 Last complete overhaul was 10 years ago Seven offices/units contribute applications Central IT partners for servers, database Used by all students and applicants - That is a population of about 50-60K unique users RAMweb affects our University goals of recruitment, enrollment and retention efforts Graduate school Registrar Financial aid Health Network Business and Financial Services Admissions CASA Central IT partners mamange servers, application and database 1/3/2019 UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation

UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation RAMweb logins by year Logins  Usage, transaction volume much higher Year 1/3/2019 UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation

UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation RAMweb New Back to where we are now! S. M. eM. P.C. Stable, modern system, easier to maintain, easy for additional partners to contribute content Student Feedback? What to know what we have heard? Counter Emails Starbucks All positive, everyone likes it… 1/3/2019 UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation

UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation RAMweb today Student input utilized in redesign Meets peak volume demands Mobile first! Most used information on landing page Security standards improved Opportunities for student specific presentation A great leap forward for us. The design was taken from voter feedback in the ASCSU elections application meets demand during high volume times. Much of the application is mobile friendly. Most used/needed information on landing page Meets security checks The code structure is more current tools and methods, easier to maintain, distributed maintenance, Allows us to tailor to specific students more easily ---standard, new students, grad, SaS, athlete, into, etc… Thank students and Terri’s team again. 1/3/2019 UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation

UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation Platform Migration Complete technology change Operating System, hardware, software Moved ARIES/Banner databases to Linux Provides ability to dynamically adjust memory and CPU capacity as required Implemented advanced and aggressive tools to improve monitoring and predictive analysis capabilities Next, another great step forward. There were very big changes on the backend to ensure SIS stability and performance on the peak volume days. These changes directly affect RAMweb. Spot trends and adjust before problems occur Planning, Timing, coordination, testing and communication are required for a big effort such as this. 1/3/2019 UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation

Fall 2016 first day of term success All systems go all the time 33,098 RAMweb users 221,140 RAMweb main page views 53% activity from desktop, 44% mobile 52% activity from Chrome, 35% firefox Peak activity at 10am The result of the efforts over the past 9 months result in a very successful launch of the fall term. 18 different browers and many browers versions 1/3/2019 UTFAB SIS Fall 2016 Presentation

Major initiatives completed… RAMweb redesign http://ramwebstage.colostate.edu SIS/Banner upgrades Semester at Sea integration to SIS IPAS-2 Advisor portal enhancements And to recap last spring we identified a short list of the highest priority items: Ramweb redesign – check SIS/Banner upgrades – check SaS – Check , current voyage underway, next voyage students already registered with no issues IPAS 2, Advisor Portal – check These four quite large efforts. Staff intensive, impact across campus, large success by themselves. 97 closed project tickets since march – much work being done.
