Two police officers critically injured

Two Boston police officers were shot and critically injured while responding to a call late Wednesday. The suspect in the shootings -- who was wearing body armor -- was later killed during an exchange of gunfire with officers. Police received a call regarding a "domestic incident" between two male roommates in East Boston around 11 p.m., Evans said. When officers entered the home, they could be heard on their radios screaming "303" -- which means shots fired and "officer down.” Officers dragged their wounded colleagues to safety as more shots were exchanged. The suspect had an assault rifle. The two injured officers are in critical condition at Massachusetts General Hospital and both are expected to have surgery. The two men have not been identified, but were longtime members on the police force, with one having served 28 years and the other for 12 years.

In Other News US-Russia relations have deteriorated sharply amid a barrage of accusations and disagreements, raising the stakes on issues ranging from the countries' competing military operations in Syria, disputes over Eastern European independence and escalating cyber breaches. Boko Haram militants handed over 21 missing Chibok schoolgirls to the Nigerian government Thursday morning. The militants herded 276 girls out of bed in the middle of the night at a school in Chibok in northern Nigeria in April 2014. As many as 57 girls escaped and shared harrowing tales of fleeing from the nearby Sambisa Forest, believed to be the terror group's stronghold. Dozens are still missing, and their whereabouts remain a mystery, but are believed to be somewhere in the forest. This is the largest group believed freed since the girls were kidnapped two years ago. Boko Haram says its aim is to impose a stricter enforcement of Sharia law across Africa's most populous nation, which is split between a majority Muslim north and a mostly Christian south. In previous videos from the militant group, its leader, Abubakar Shekau, has demanded the release of Boko Haram fighters in exchange for the Chibok girls. No Boko Haram fighters were released in exchange for the girls. It happened as a result of a series of high-level negotiations involving a group from Geneva.
