HABIT

The Right TOOL for the Job Toothbrush vs. Finger Hairbrush vs. Fingers Using a Remote vs. Changing the Channel Potato Peeler vs. A knife Heel of your shoe vs. A hammer Cell phone as a flashlight?

Post-it notes/optional School Tools PLANNER Highlighter Paper Clip – as a marker Post-it notes/optional

Name your Planner Why? You are less likely to neglect something with a name and a strong identity When you give an object a name – you give it more of a presence in your life Call it something goofy or sentimental – it doesn’t matter You don’t have to tell anyone!!!

Find a Permanent Home for your Planner You should always have it with you It should be in the same place ALL the time The only time it isn’t in its home – is when you are using it Make it a habit to put it in the same place

Feed your Planner PUT EVERYTHING IN YOUR PLANNER – You must remember that anything that takes up time, like hanging out or a ball game, will keep you from working on an assignment. If you don’t put these things in your planner as time out – you may not realize how limited your homework time really is. This leads to cramming and all-nighters 

Feed your Planner Open it at least once in each of your Core classes Math, English, Science, Social Studies Look at the board – what is coming up? Write your assignments in it as soon as you get them Listen to announcements – what is coming up? Check the school calendar when you are at home

Backwards Planning When you write a due date in your planner, go back a day or a week and give yourself a reminder that the due date is approaching Break big assignments into little pieces to complete along the way

Advantages of Planner More assignments in on time After you dump your brain – you worry less and sleep better Better grades Happier Home Confidence
