Today’s Objectives You will work with a partner to create score 3 short answer response with embedded evidence using “On Wiesel’s Night.” We will create an exemplary analysis and embed strong text evidence from both pgs. 85-97 in Night and the poem “On Wiesel’s Night” using your notes on connotation in order to facilitate individual comprehension of embedding evidence from two selections

SAR Practice With a partner, answer the question below using your homework notes: How does the author’s use of diction determine the mood in “On Wiesel’s Night?” Use evidence from the selection to support your assertion.

Embedding Paired Evidence How does the author’s use of diction determine a similar tone in both selections (pgs. 85-97 Night and “On Wiesel’s Night)?” Use evidence from both selections to support your assertion.

Elie Wiesel Bellringer With a group of three you will create a short presentation on which answers are wrong and WHY which is correct and WHY You have 20 minutes to submit ***Example to follow***

Incorrect Answers A is wrong because the phrase beginning “Consisting” modifies “Elie Wiesel” B is wrong because the semicolon is wrongly used creating a sentence error C is wrong because it misplaces the phrase beginning “consisting” so that it modifies “Europe”

Correct Answer D is the correct answer because it maintains the same meaning conveyed by both sentences

Grouping Protocols For this assignment there are three roles: Team Leader (keeps everyone on task, facilitates discussion, & asks the teacher questions when necessary) Scribe (writes and/or types assignment & ensures submission) Fact Checker (uses dictionary, thesaurus, & any necessary text to correct grammar, spelling, and quotations)
