The Graduate College Travel Summary Presentation Presented by Arvin Johnson (Vernice Adams)

National Education Finance Conference The National Education Finance Academy uses a peer-review process to review and screen all submitted proposals. After initial vetting, proposals are accepted for each state and those authors are invited to present at the conference. 4/4/2018 – 4/6/2018, Tulsa, Oklahoma The annual National Education Finance Conference Academy is among the premier educational finance conferences in the country. This national conference is sponsored and supported by top educational institutions and research universities such as the University of Florida, Clemson University, Illinois State University, and others. Each year the conference attracts hundreds of university faculty, K-12 school leaders, legislators, and other stakeholders and provides a rich platform to discuss multi-level research on educational finance and policy. State of States Roundtable: Louisiana This session was dedicated to meaningful discussions to reviewing educational funding changes throughout the United States. This concurrent session highlighted school finance and policy changes by state, to include Higher Education, K-12, and other educational agencies. Louisiana has continually faced significant challenges relating to finance and policy. I engaged in a discussion on how legislators, K-12 school administrators, and university faculty may avoid some of the funding snafus in Louisiana. In addition, we discussed alternate ways to reconcile funding/budget issues when states face similar financial situations as Louisiana. Insert Photo, Video, Graphs or Charts

Benefit of Travel I benefited from this travel in several ways. I was able to expand my professional network of scholars and content area. I have submitted a paper presentation with a faculty member that I met at the conference. We plan on writing a manuscript based on the paper presentation. I also publish the manuscript in the special edition of the conference journal.
