LoudCloud: Participation

“Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted.” – Albert Einstein As a GCU instructor, your participation Counts!

GCU instructors must participate “actively and substantively in the weekly discussion forum by posting several content-focused replies at least 4 out of 7 days” (Online Faculty Checklist). The first adjective used to describe participation here is: actively. Active participation connotes that an instructor is present and engaged in class discussions throughout the week.

As an instructor, how do you keep track of your activity each week in the discussion forums? Loud Cloud has an app (really this is more of a Post Counter) for that!

Upon entering into each weekly Discussion Topic, you will see the number of times you have posted throughout the week.

To see how many days you have posted, you can change your view by clicking on the “Linear Display” option.

Just like with students, your weekly participation reflects only your participation in the weekly discussion question forums. Stay tuned for Part II of this series on Self-Assessment!
