What is the NCAA? Association of members and the national office staff. Three divisions – I, II and III. 1,123 member colleges and universities. 98 voting athletic conferences. 39 affiliated organizations.

The NCAA Prioritizes academics, well-being and fairness. Enforces rules designed and adopted by the membership. Governs athletics personnel, amateurism, recruiting, academic eligibility, financial aid, awards/benefits, and playing and practice seasons.

Where Do Bylaws Come From? Member school or conference develops a concept that could become a new bylaw. Concept is submitted to NCAA where it is drafted into a proposal. Membership can review and comment on all proposals. Membership votes. If adopted, it is added to the NCAA Manual.
