Overall Structure & Organization General Directorate of NCD established in 2004: 1. Planning strategies & policies of NCD. 2. Cooperation and Coordination with: MOH departments, Governmental & NGO, Academic bodies, Committees. 3. Conducting screening & surveillance of NCD.

Achievements in tackling NCDs & their RFs 1- Diabetes prevention program Establishing the national committee on diabetes control and prevention National Strategic Diabetes Plan 2008-2018 (derived from the Arab Gulf plan) Creating and updating Saudi Diabetes Guideline. Adapted the national strategy about the food, physical activity of health DPAS (in light of the WHO strategy. Create a registry for DM.

Programs 2-National Premarital Screening program-2004 :screening obligatory for all those couples who plan to marry . 3- Neonatal Screening Program-2005 4-Cancer Control Program 5-Prevention of cardiovascular diseases 6-Diet and Physical activity-2011. 7- Prevention of injuries and road traffic accidents Program -2011.

Challenges Encountered LACK OF: RISK FACTOR SURVEILLANCE. Accurate Mortality Data. Training for Professionals and Para-medicals on NCD Prevention and Control Adequate Information on Health Care Services Management for Major NCD’s. Assessing the cost-effectiveness of the various interventions.
