Chancellor’s Office, Sacramento September 28-29, 2017 CCCECE Board Meeting Chancellor’s Office, Sacramento September 28-29, 2017

President’s Report – Jan Delapp Relationship with Chancellor’s office Lucy Berger has retired, but as of right now we don’t appear to have a liaison in replacement There currently isn’t a direct correlation between CCCECE and the Chancellor’s office Advisory between CCCECE, but we will still continue to function as a state wide advisory as we hold meetings and invite constituents from different state entities e.g., CCLD, Employment Registry, California Department of Ed

Updates from San Jose CDTC/Mentor Meeting Stephanie Aguilar – Child Development Training Consortium (www.childdevelopment.org ) Well attended by CDTC and Mentor Coordinators. CDTC business meeting webinar was held before the San Jose meeting. CPIN and PITC also had preconference meetings. CCCECE Updates presented by Past President, Sondra Moe – Power point can be found on www.cccece.net Table presentations and Posters format rather than break out sessions. There is hope that there will be a single location for this meeting next year vs. one in North and one in South, South Meeting is November 9-11th in Palm Springs at the Renaissance Palm Springs for more details go to www.caeyc.org click on Resources Note: CAAEYC is now identified CA-for California in order to avoid confusion with other states that begin with the letter C

Fall Forum for Professional Development On-going concern that the needs of early childhood higher education faculty are not being addressed in the Forums; more partnership and collaboration is being sought. Many participants were very happy to receive the information shared about the ECE Programs like FIP and CAP but requests were received for more discussions on Best Practices in Work Force Training in ECE

Public Policy Report There are things taking place in CA and nationally that CCCECE has not been included on– But which should we speak out on and what stance should we adopt? DACA – impact on our students and families Healthcare Bills that will cut access to families and children Blue Ribbon Commission in ECE Are there groups that we should connect with to join on a Position Statement?

New Lab Liaison Position LaTanga Hardy, Director, LA Trade Tech Strengthening the Lab Schools – Topic of table discussion CDTC/Mentor meetings. Model Program Manual Support national accreditation State Lab School Competencies State wide Lab School Director Meetings Update statewide Lab School and Director List A survey to find out how to better serve Lab School staff and work with faculty on campus What is the definition of a lab school? What is a quality lab school? Practicum consistency – how many hours across the state?

Strong Workforce http://cccewd.net/#contact Find out what is happening at your campus that might support your program, e..g, Regional awards The metrics for ECE is typically enrollment figures and completion, it isn’t effective to warrant funding; alternative suggestions Look at the Elementary Ed ADT – gain more data from CSU; survey how many students want to be multi-subject teacher, special education teacher Partner with Business discipline; family childcare homes, family center Connect with culinary arts program; ties to food program – or Nursing program for Child Life Specialist

What else is happening to support ECE at the CC level? Collaborating in Learning Communities e.g., with ESL and ECE Dual enrollment with High-Schools
