Warm-Up Looking at this quote by Confucius, how does this quote compare to our modern saying “Actions speak louder than words”?

Origins of Confucianism The man who started the Confucianism belief was Confucius. He lived and started this religion during 6th Century BCE. Confucianism originated in China.

Adherents of Confucianism Confucianism is a rather small religion with only 5-6 million followers. The people who follow Confucianism are called Confucians.

Confucianism Views Confucius never mentioned a God of Confucianism. Confucians view Heaven as a positive and personal force.

Life’s Purpose for Confucians The life’s purpose for Confucians is to fulfill one’s society with prosperity, honor, and loyalty.

Confucians Afterlife Confucius never discussed his beliefs about the afterlife. Even though he didn’t discuss his beliefs, he did say that Heaven is a positive and personal force.

General Confucianism Practices Confucianism does not prescribe any specific rituals or practices. Many Confucians also practice the Shintoism, Buddhism, or Taoism religion.

Confucians Holy Text The Confucians do have a holy text. It is called the Analects, and it is the most sacred scripture in this tradition.
