Summative Assignment

Summative Assignment This project is your final evaluation in co-op and will account for 30% of your final mark!

This project has two components:

This project has two components: 1) A Career Development Portfolio.

This project has two components: 1) A Career Development Portfolio. 2) A PowerPoint or Display Board presentation on your placement.

Part 1: Career Development Portfolio

Part 1: Career Development Portfolio Using a three ring binder, make a Career Development Portfolio of all your documentation.

Part 1: Career Development Portfolio A Career Development Portfolio is a collection of all your work and qualifications. Think of it as your portfolio inventory master file. The more experience you have, the more information will be included in your career portfolio.

Your Career Development Portfolio must contain the following: Table of Contents Profile/Biographical Synopsis (Brag Sheet) – Career goals/objectives Resume (updated) List of References: including names, titles, and contact information Recommendation Letters, Performance Evaluations, Testimonials. School Transcripts Awards, Certification Cover Letters Thank You Letters Artifacts of your work**

Part 1: Career Development Portfolio ** Artifacts are actual work examples that demonstrate or corroborate knowledge that you have, a skill that you possess, or a personal competency you demonstrate.  

Part 1: Career Development Portfolio For purposes of this class your PowerPoint/Display Board of your placement will be considered an artifact of your work. 

Part 1: Career Development Portfolio Submit your final Career Development Portfolio in a three ring binder organized with appropriately labeled Tab Dividers. This binder and all information contained in it will be available to be picked up, by the student, after it has been evaluated and the semester has concluded.  

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment Prepare a PowerPoint or a Display Board presentation about your placement.

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment Your PowerPoint/Display Board should provide an overall picture of your placement.

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment For Display Boards; use a standard sized two fold display board (available at the Dollar store)

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment Photographs of your placement would be ideal. Especially as an establishing shot of the building or location.

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment Start collecting material about your placement that you can use in your presentation.

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment Brochures, pamphlets, etc. Don’t forget to check to see if your placement has a website

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment You are trying to convey both your job and your experiences: good, bad, strange, funny, even the ‘Oh no! They are going to fire me for sure’ day.

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment This information must be included in your presentation: Title: include the workplace name & location History: a brief description of the workplace & it’s background Product Samples: samples of your work (souvenirs/photographs showing the services/products of the workplace)

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment This information must be included in your presentation: Student Job Description: describe the tasks & duties you performed while at your placement

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment This information must be included in your presentation: Student Job Description: describe the tasks & duties you performed while at your placement School Links: list 5 specific examples of knowledge or skills learned at school that you have applied at your work placement. (Include the skill & how it was used)

Part 2: PowerPoint/Display Board Assignment This information must be included in your presentation: Job Experience Pros/Cons: provide some positive and negative observations regarding your co-op experience.

You will be presenting your assignment during the last week of the semester. Presentation

Summative Assignment *You must present/submit your PowerPoint/Display Board in class on Monday, January 21; which is the last week of the semester before exams begin.

Summative Assignment *Remember: This is a mandatory assignment. No Credit will be granted until the assignment is completed and submitted.
