Attendance 25 Hours per week Minimum

Recording attendance Attendance at NCA must be updated at least once a week. The more the merrier! Some notes about attendance. Only input whole numbers. When necessary please round up. Didn’t work? Don’t put in anything, just leave it blank! Each week must average 25 hours. At NCA our week is 7 days! V= Vacation: These are preset days for federal and state holidays such as Labor Day, Fall Break, Winter Break, etc. E= Excused Absence: Illness, family emergency. Please notify me of any excused absences. Anything more than 3 in a row will require a doctors note. U=Unexcused Absence: A day at Disneyland, personal day, etc.

Completing lessons What the markings mean, making sure they are complete

What does it mean? Lesson is bolded. Still needs to be complete. U Turn Arrow Means the lesson has been skipped. Do not do it. Check Mark means it is 100% done. You’re ready for the next lesson. Lesson is bolded. Still needs to be complete. Check mark with a clock means you are done, and your Learning Coach needs to mark it complete.

Assessment types How to determine what the lesson will have you do.

Common Assessment types Icon Description Quick Check Quick Checks are non-cumulative formative assessments that reflect where the student is doing well. Discussion Text based opportunity for students to engage in a discussion on topics they are learning. Open all semester. Portfolio Opportunity for students to submit original work about the topic in the form of an essay, presentation, and MORE! Quiz Quizzes, which typically contain 5-10 questions, are longer than Quick Checks and cover material from more than one lesson. Pretest Pretests assess students’ prior knowledge of a subject. Not weighted in the grade. Test At the end of each Unit to cover material from the entire unit. Longer than quizzes, and weighted higher than a quiz.

portfolios JPEG, pDF, Word Doc, Excel Doc, etc

No scanner? No problem! CamScanner iPhone/Android App that takes photos and combines them into one PDF you email to yourself then upload to Connexus.

Honor code NCA’s Honor Code Document found in virtual library

Honor code Submit original work Everything MUST be your own work As a Connections student, I know that academic honesty is critical to my own success, as well as to the mission of my School. I also understand that an Honor Code is, by its nature, limited not only to those situations spelled out in the code, but includes the spirit of honesty and ethics implied by the written code. I agree that I will uphold not only the letter of this code but also its implied intent of ongoing commitment to full academic honesty. Submit original work Everything MUST be your own work Do NOT copy and paste

discussions Engage in a discussion with your peers on what you have learned
