Learning Objectives After we finish our presentation you should be able to Define Extemporaneous Speaking and Impromptu Speaking Describe the differences of Extemporaneous and Impromptu Speaking Deliver an Extemporaneous Speech Deliver an Impromptu Speech

Section 1: Extemporaneous Speaking When you’re are giving a Extemporaneous Speech you want to speak with a Conversational Quality, so you won’t sound like a robot when you speak. Keep a strong eye with the audience. Look as natural as possible, to do so pick a question from your notes that is the easiest for you to recite. And present a clear and meaningful speech.

Section 2: Impromptu Speaking When you are given a impromptu speech speak fluently and naturally. Have a clear subject in mind and keep yourself focused on conveying a message. An impromptu speech should be short and sweet. Don’t worry about messing up, just speak about your topic.

Extemporaneous and Impromptu Video

The difference between extemporaneous and impromptu speaking When the subject is public speaking and the two words are being distinguished, “extemporaneous” means “carefully prepared but delivered without notes”; “impromptu” means “composed or uttered without previous preparation. Don't be scared if you mess up on your impromptu speech just breathe in and out, and continue on with your speech. Also don’t take too long to try to recite your notes for your Extemporaneous Speech.

Conversational quality: To sound spontaneous and be relaxed when speaking. Foreshadowing: A warning or indication of the future. Justification: The action of showing something to be right or reasonable. Compelling Insight: To convince someone during a speech. Topic Specific: To only state facts about a topic. Label: A word or phrase that describes someone. Analysis: Separating events in different topics. Zinger: Outstanding person or thing.
