“Hands” Jerry Uelsmann

Jerry’s photographs of hands inspired my concept of hands Jerry’s photographs of hands inspired my concept of hands. His double exposure technique is very high and he utilizes dark backgrounds and areas so well. I could feel a lot of emotion in his images of the same hands. The reason why is because of the changes of scenery that give a new feel of emotion or mood.

“photomontage” David hockney

My initial idea for the final project was inspired by Hockney’s photomontages. I felt like going with a concept of capturing different parts of the body of different people to create one ultimate image of a unified person. I feel like Hockney uses this technique so well and it adds on to the appreciation of his work. My first impression of some of his other works were that they were fragmented and bizarre. I can’t really explain it and that’s what made me so drawn to his work.

Le violon d'Ingres, 1924 Man ray

Man Ray pushed for more symmetry, lighter exposures and more surreal pictures as well as nudity. I figured his concept of symmetry in the next image would be a good tool to use for my project. His works pushed the limits of photography in his time. I even feel like he helped evolve nude painting from canvas to film.

I believe the works of these three men will provide a good amount of inspiration for the final project. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
