What is an Apprentice?

Apprenticeship Earn While You Learn The Piping Industry has many career opportunities to explore Plumbing Pipefitting Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration

Plumbing A PLUMBER Installs, repairs, maintains and services piping and plumbing systems and equipment used for drinking (potable) water distribution, sanitary storm water systems, and waste disposal.

Pipefitting A PIPEFITTER is a tradesperson with the knowledge and ability to layout, fabricate, assemble, install, maintain, and repair piping systems that transport all types of fluids, slurries, and gas in the residential, commercial , and Industrial sectors.  Welding is a big part of the pipefitting industry

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration The HVACR FITTER’s works covers the general responsibilities for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR). This would include the installation and maintenance of all sizes of heating and cooling systems for residential, commercial, and institutional applications

Benefits $23.41 an hour is contributed towards benefits Health Reimbursement account Health Insurance Pension Members Health and Wellness clinic free to members and their families $144.50 dollars a month for every 1800 hours worked. Example someone who works 30 years at an average of 1900 hours would receive $4575 each month for retirement

Coming up with solutions for unforeseen complications Negatives Having to work outside Working in uncomfortable environments (dirty, hot, cold, loud, etc). JOURNEYMAN Earn industry standard wage with exceptional benefit package including health care and retirement Free safety training/continuing education Graduate apprenticeship with ½ of the credits needed for a degree from Highland Community College and other select colleges

Opportunities Journeymen have opportunities to advance in the industry. Some of the positions for advancement are; Foreman Superintendent Inspector Estimator Project Manager Contractor

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Must be a high school graduate or have GED Must have passed 1 year of standard high school algebra Must provide a valid government issued photo ID (drivers license, or state ID) Must be 17 years old at time of application ( 18 by following March)

Process Complete Applications on dates available. Aptitude test date will be given to you on day of application. Complete and return Personal Experience Form (PEF)prior to deadline Those that meet minimum qualifications will be eligible for testing. Those that meet minimum cut score on aptitude test, will be interviewed. Scores of PEF, Aptitude Test, and Interview will be combined to form a ranking list.

Process Applicants will be placed with employers based on demand starting with applicant ranked #1 and then descending through the ranking list.
