What is an Eco System? An ecosystem is a complete community of living organisms and the non living materials in their surroundings. Examples: Forests Ponds Oceans Mountains Jungles

What is a forest eco system ? Ecosystems that are densely packed with trees, plants , animals, insects and microorganisms.

Forest eco systems Look on pg 167 what are the 3 different forest ecosystems shown?

In your opinion, what accounts for the presences of different forest eco systems?

The survival of the species that live there is threatened. What happens when there is a change in an element of a forest ecosystem? The survival of the species that live there is threatened.

What distinguishes a primeval forest from an exploited forest? Primeval: A forest where there is no human intervention, no humans venture there. Exploited: Forest is altered by humans.

In your opinion, what would be the environmental consequences of a major reduction in forest territory? deforestation consequences Less bio diversity Stability of climate Services provided by plants and animals would be lost.

Fill in the table Type of forest similarity differnecs 1A 1B 1C

In your opinion, what animals live in these different ecosystems?

Where in the world are Primeval forests still found? In the North Amazon Conservation areas South America

What role do the roots of trees and plants play in nature? They hold in the soil, which prevents erosion Erosion

What role does foliage(leaves) play during precipitation? Intercepts drops of water when there is precipitation. It protects the soil.

What proportion of the worlds plant and animal species live in forests? 2/3= 66.6%

Why are forests essential for animals? Forests provide animals with shelter, food and space to breed.

How are forests useful for humans? There are many resources for human beings
