SIMULTANEOUS MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM (SMP) The COLLEGE at BROCKPORT (STATE UNIVERSITY of NEW YORK) SIMULTANEOUS MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM (SMP) Allows you to do ROTC while serving in the National Guard or Army Reserve REQUIREMENTS U.S. Citizen Be a full-time student Enroll into the SMP program with 30 credit hours Serve one weekend per month The Simultaneous Membership Program allows you to attend Army ROTC and serve in the National Guard or Army Reserve at the same time. In order to do it, you must be a U.S. citizen, be a full-time student, have 30 college credit hours as well as agree to serve one weekend a month and two weeks per year for drill. SIMULTANEOUS MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM (SMP) The COLLEGE at BROCKPORT (STATE UNIVERSITY of NEW YORK) SIMULTANEOUS MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM (SMP) BENEFITS Additional training and experience as an officer candidate while completing college Time in service begins Qualify for $4500 Federal Tuition Assistance Monthly ROTC stipend, Drill pay and Montgomery G.I. Bill Non deployable while in school Some of the benefits of the SMP program are that it gives you an opportunity for additional training and experience. Cadets will be paired with and mentored by a unit officer. SMP cadets qualify for up to $4500 Federal Tuition Assistance and will get paid to drill once a month with their unit and will receive a monthly stipend. If you complete basic training and AIT (Advanced Individual Training) you will be eligible for the Montgomery G.I. Bill. While participating in the SMP Program, cadets are non-deployable, in order for them to complete their degree. Upon graduation you'll receive your commission as a 2nd lieutenant and serve in either the National Guard, Army Reserve or on Active Duty. College at Brockport Army ROTC (585) 395-2769
