Overview Spend on woundcare items The Suffolk GP woundcare formulary Adherence to the formulary Woundcare prescribing: Good practice

Spend on woundcare items

The Suffolk GP woundcare formulary

Adherence to the formulary WSCCG: 2017/18 % of items ‘in formulary’ <50% 50-70% >70% 38%

Woundcare prescribing: Good practice Decline request from DNs to prescribe formulary items – these should be obtained from DN bases If a non-formulary item is requested ensure the DN completes the ‘Exception reporting form’ Do not prescribe as ‘repeat’ item

Woundcare prescribing: Good practice (2) Decline requests from Nursing Homes to prescribe non-formulary items; offer formulary alternative Items for ‘stock’ should not be prescribed on FP10 Prescribe the actual number of dressings needed; not ‘one box’ or ‘one original pack’ Pick the right formulary dressing for the job
