Cadder Primary My new SCHOOL

Meet the teachers All the teachers are excited to meet their new pupils. They will help you around the school and when you are stuck with your work. The teachers are very friendly and like talking to you and your friends. The teachers enjoy your company!

Support for learning staff These are the Support for Learning Workers. You will see them in the playground and sometimes in class! They are there to help you make friends and also when you’re hurt. They can even play with you. They come in and out of the classes helping you with your work. They are really friendly and cannot wait to meet you.

Head teacher This is Mrs Baker, she is your Head Teacher. She is very kind and caring. She knows when it is your birthday and will give you a very special certificate! When you have fabulous and wonderful work you will get stickers.

Mr Wright likes to play football and help people. Janitor This is our janitor Mr Wright. You will see him in the playground at playtime and lunchtime. He will also be at the gate at home time. Mr Wright likes to play football and help people.

Catering staff The Dinner ladies host a breakfast club that runs from 8.00 to 8.40 so you can have your breakfast with your friends. The dinner ladies have a tuck shop where you can buy toast, crisps, juice or milk at break time. The dinner ladies are sweet and kind. They help you choose your lunch.

Office staff Our office staff are very helpful and they can help you with lots of things around the school – they know a lot about Cadder Primary! If you are late or unwell they will look after you and make sure you are safe!

First week My new SCHOOL

FIRST DAY On your first day, all the Primary 1 children and parents will gather in the dining hall. Mrs Baker will be there to meet you. You will then be taken to your new classroom to meet your new teacher!

CLOAKROOM Once you are inside, you go to the cloakroom to hang up your coat and bag and take off your outdoor shoes. Every child has a peg with their name on it. Don’t worry if you can’t find it as there will always be someone to help you.

P7 BUDDIES For the first few weeks of school you will have a Buddy who will meet you at playtime and lunchtime to help you with your shoes and jacket. They will take you to the playground to play with other boys and girls. They will help you make new friends, they will play with you and make you comfortable, and help you if you are hurt. The P7 Buddies are friendly and generous.

uniform Our uniform is royal blue and grey. You can wear a royal blue cardigan or jumper with grey trousers, skirt or dress. You can also wear a white or blue polo shirt or a shirt and tie. We also change our shoes indoors. We wear black sand shoes inside. It is a good idea for our shoes to have Velcro so that we can become independent.

Play time and lunch time My new SCHOOL

playtime At playtime you will be able to go outside to play with the other boys and girls. Your Buddies will be there to play with you and teach you some games. Primary 1, 2 and 3 play in the front playground. We have lots of outdoor toys to play with and we love our tumble bars.

SNACK You can have a snack at playtime. A healthy snack is encouraged at Cadder such as fruit, light crisps and a drink. We also have a tuck shop where you can buy toast, light crisps or a drink.

LITTER We always put our litter in the bin to keep our playground tidy. We all take a turn at being the litter monitors and making sure there is not rubbish on the ground after playtime and lunchtime. We are proud to be an Eco school.

LUNCH TIME At lunchtime you go straight to the lunch hall with your class. Your teacher keeps all your money in a money tub and gives you your money at lunchtime.

CHOOSING LUNCH There are pictures to show us what choices of food we have that day. The catering staff will help you choose if you are not sure. You can also choose items from the Pick “n” mix. There is soup, yoghurts, fruit and milk.

LUNCH TIME PLAY When you are finished your lunch you go out to play, although for the first couple of weeks this will be time to go home. Your teachers will take you outside to meet whoever is collecting you that day.

AROUND THE SCHOOL My new SCHOOL

YOUR CLASSROOM Your classroom is near the cloakroom and once you have hung up your coat and jacket your teacher will take you into the classroom.

ACTIVE START At school we like to sing, read stories and play games. From Day 2 of school there will be activities set out on your tables for you to choose from when you come in. This is called Active Start. The boys and girls like this because they get to choose.

Tooth brushing? Regular daily brushing will take place to ensure your teeth stay clean and healthy! We will provide you with everything you need to help you do this.

THE DISCOVERY CENTRE This is the Discovery Centre. We like this room because it changes into different things every term. We can dress up, listen to stories, make pictures, play in the sand, make things, cut and stick, write and draw. It is very exciting!

GYM HALL In the gym hall we do P.E. We run around, play games and get fit. We have fantastic equipment like balls, bean bags, mats and our big frame. P.E. is great fun! We have to make sure we are wearing our indoor shoes, shorts and t-shirts so we can move freely and join in properly.

toilets The toilets are quite near the classroom. We make sure we go after break and lunch. We also go before lunch to make sure our hands are clean before eating. We know how important it is to use soap when washing our hands and have songs to remind us.

Let your journey begin… We cant wait for you to join us at Cadder Primary School! You are going to love it!
