Fashion and Sewing Unit Hand Sewing Monkey Get out your hand sewing sampler! Go to the other room and pick out a color for your monkey’s body grab 1 of those and one piece of felt color for the face and tail, then come back in here!!! 1. Monkey Face Do this First: Back stitch, just like you did for the initials in your name. 2. Attach the monkey’s head to the body using the overcast stitch. 3. Attach the tail to the back of the monkey’s body using the overcast stitch. 4. Attach the two bodies together using the button hole stitch. Only sew it half way to ¾ of the way to put your stuffing in. **You are getting graded on GOOD stitches that you want small and uniform!!!

Hand Sewing Monkey: 1: Face: You are using the back stitch ( it is the same stitch you used to sew your letters on your sample kit) 2: Head: You are going to sew the head on to one of the bodies using the overcast stitch. 3: Tail: Put the tail on the back of the body that does not have a head using the overcast stitch. 4: Bodies: To connect the two bodies together you are going to use the button hole stitch, you will need to sew it half way and then stuff it with poly fill then finish the rest of the body using the button hole stitch.
